William Nylander's Value is $9 794 615, but he won't get that money in Toronto

If he keeps his pace, he will be able to hit $11 million Value in the next season.

The Value of the Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is $9 794 615 today and has a wonderful pace. It increased by $1 235 640 in the 2021-2022 season and, moreover, by $1 838 870 in the 2022-23. He played last season without a slump and was the best player on the team in terms of Value progress. Only in the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the winger had an unsuccessful period at the start of Round 2 against the Florida Panthers. But he turned things around in the end and finished with the career-high Value, despite the Leafs being eliminated.

Nylander is only 27 years old, it is not the time for decline. If he keeps his pace, he will have good odds to reach $11 million Value in the 2023-24 season. And he will be able to hit even a $13 million Value in the next couple of years.

According to Benchrates algorithm, right now William is the 18th-best forward in the world in terms of Value. The wingers with similar Values are Nikita Kucherov, Kyle Connor, Artemy Panarin, Jake Guentzel, and Johnny Gaudreau.

The next season is a contract season for the Leafs' player, and his agent is discussing his future with the team. Per Chris Johnston, "Nylander believes he should be a $10 million player or a little bit above that on his next contract", and the negotiations are not "going well". Due to the current Value and its projections, the winger will be able to find this Cap Hit for a long-term deal or even require more for a short-term deal.

But, unfortunately, he won't get that money in the Maple Leafs. If the team pays deserved Value for Core 4, it will take $13.6 million for Auston Matthews, $12 million for Mitchell Marner, $9.8 million for Nylander, and $8 million for John Tavares. It will lock up more than half of the cap space. These players should make a discount for a short-term contract for a chance to win the Stanley Cup, or somebody will leave Toronto soon.
